So summer has finally hit Wanaka with a vengeance. We had a week with the temps in the low 30's which is quite a lot for round here and it has been calm with it. Haagen took us on a great little boat trip out to Mou Waho, the island around the corner and up the lake. Amazing spot. We got there in the early evening and the light was amazing.
Lake Arethusa and Lake Wanaka in the background.

Erica and our captain, Haagen.
Check out the island in the lake in the island in the lake in the island in the ocean!

We have been taking daily trips down to the lake for a swim and to throw the dog in. He was so hot but has since had a huge haircut, halving his size and cooling him right down.
As you can see from this before and after shot, he's a different dog now.

We had a hedgehog come and visit. And been doing some fun rides with Haagen in preparation for the Epic again this year. Only going to do the short(95km) race this time and give all the road riding a miss. Fingers crossed for good weather again.

Some shots from the ranch. Lou boy riding the deere. Now I am slightly biased but that is one tasty looking mower. Diesel power. Hydraulic 60 inch deck. Power steering. Green paint. John Deere stickers. I do have a matching jumper but its too big for the dog to wear.
A new track has been opened between Albert town and Hawea following the kinda stinky Hawea river. Sadly its full of didymo the noxious American water weed known as rock snot in these parts. The track is nice however and perfect for a gentle bike ride. We pottered along it nicely with the dog running well. Whenever he gets a bit hot we just put him in the basket.
